Cheerful Sky || comparison
Taichi Yagami (Digimon): This was actually my initial thought when I first saw the characters
of Kingdom Hearts - that they resemble Digimon characters a lot (especially Sora and Kairi). But not
only their outlook is stunningly similar (teh spiky hair!), also they characters have a lot in
common. Not only is Tai, too, the main character and thus hero of the story, leader of the party et
cetera; he is just as jocund and playful as Sora. And, if you take into account that Sora is very
brave and Tai is the bearer of the Crest of Courage, we have another similarity.
Even though Taichi seems to be a little more reckless than Sora, they both share an upbeat,
extroverted nature and overall positive attitude.
Funnywise though, 14-year-old Sora is more comparable to Tai when he's eleven years old in the first
Digimon season rather to him in season 02, where he's 14. By the way, I also think that their
character development is analogue in great parts. And, additionally, they both have this earlier
rivalry with their later best friends that betray them at some point (Riku/Yamato) - there's just so
much reminiscence in my opinion.
Lloyd Irving (Tales of Symphonia): That one just came up recently, but I think they don't only
have their brown hair in common. While they might be essentially different on some things, there are
also some likenesses between them. For example, apart from Lloyd being another main chara (we
certainly see an affinity in 'hero' characters here - at least I do), he is also mostly optimistical
and cheery; yet, he is probably a little more grown-up (well, he is, in fact, older than Sora). Lloyd
is also the protector of the damsel in distress Colette most of the time...
Justin (Grandia): I must admit that I haven't completed this game yet, but from what I've seen
they share the same upbeat nature with a little bit of childishness and immaturity added. But, I
feel, Justin might even be a little more infantile (both physically and mentally) and, thus,
silly.
Sion Barzahd (The Bouncer): As above, I have not beaten the game yet; however, it's maybe just
because the character designs are by Tetsuya Nomura as well, but as far as I have come and as much as
I have seen of it, Sion, although being far older (also in behaviour), has some traits of Sora. Their
stories correspond a little, too, as in Dominique being kidnapped by unknowns and Sion trying to
rescue her - obviously, Sora wants to recapture Kairi as well. Sion is also the most childlike and
joyous of the three main characters, I think (in a more 'innocent' way than Kou is).
Daisuke Niwa (D.N. Angel): Although I don't think they have too much in common, I can see some
correlation between them. And if it's only their shy way of dealing with girls (more precisely, love
interests). In contrast to Sora, however, Daisuke is definitely not a great fan of fighting and so on
and generally has a calmer and more serene nature it seems. He is also more introverted than Sora,
who, although he doesn't unnerve everyone with his personal thoughts, is overall pretty extroverted.
Okay, so they might be quite different after all...
They do share the same japanese voice actor, however.
Tidus (Final Fantasy X): I haven't played much of FF10 yet, either. I'm sorry. But at least in
the beginning, Sora and Tidus seem to have some even character traits as for their upbeat nature and
extrovertedness. At least... that's my opinion. In addition to that, Tidus is also Yuna's bodyguard
(Sora wants to protect Kairi, you know). Kind of similar. But then, he's far older than Sora, so he's
porbably a little different altogether.
